Length
Short – the shortest videos are often called ‘highlights’, ‘short film’ or ‘teaser’. Mostly these videos are set to music and show a quick summary of the day in under 10 minutes. These are best to post to social media as they are short and snappy

Medium – often called a ‘feature film’ these could be anywhere between 10 and 45 minutes long, and will likely feature the most candid parts of the day, more of your ceremony and the speeches too.
Long or Full Length – this is the classic 2-3 hour video with absolutely everything put in order. These are usually described as ‘documentary’ length or ‘traditional’. This can also refer to separate videos of certain parts of the day presented in full, like your ceremony or speeches.
Style
Cinematic – artistic high-quality filming requiring a lot of attention into how the final video looks and sounds. The scenes will be put together in a way that the videographer feels is best to tell your story and might not necessarily be in consecutive order.

Documentary – usually refers to shooting without interruption, presenting the day as it happened. What you see is what you get, basically.
Alternative – the videographer is a lot more involved in the day, and you’ll likely be directed more to get the best shots. It’s likely the edit of the video will use TV-style cuts and transitions.
What’s our style? Well, it’s a bit of a mix of them all really, we prefer to stay in the background and film things as they happen naturally but there will be moments, like the photo shoot, where it’s appropriate to direct you to get the best possible shots to enhance the final video.
It’s really just a personal choice but remember, it’s your day and your video, ask for what you want. We won’t be offended if you do!
We provide a variety of packages, including 3 to 6 minute highlight films in a cinematic style. Your speeches in full and also a longer 10-12 minute feature film.

What’s important to say is that most videographers have filmed multiple weddings and fine-tuned their products and videos over time so what they are offering is generally what they consider to be the best video type.
After years of filming weddings with different video lengths, we’ve settled on these packages as we feel it’s the right balance to keep the viewer engaged time and time again. You’ll be surprised at how much you can fit into a highlight film!
